Old style portrait, Larissa Dedkova Painter, Photoshop October 2008
The sketch was done directly in Photoshop a while ago as a figure drawing practice and I like it enough to develop it further to a finished piece.
While doing it I learned a lot about textures, I feel I have to improve with color choice and lighting.
A reference was used for intial stage for the arm and hand placement and also for the head turn. The face is from my imagination as well as her dress, embroidery, and hair style. She wears one glove - it was done intentionally just for the sake of composition.
Wall decor referenced from a 19th century book.
The style does not represent any particular period, I tried to capture a general feeling of an old epoque.
Most of work was done with a basic hard round brush and a textured version of it for the cloth, embroidery, and wall.
